Cabin Pressure

At 35,000 feet, air is too thin to breathe. Planes keep the cabin pressurized for comfort and safety.

Sudden Pressure Loss

If a window or panel is damaged, cabin pressure drops quickly. That’s when masks fall.

Automatic System

The masks drop automatically when sensors detect low oxygen levels in the cabin.

Limited Supply

Each mask provides about 12–15 minutes of oxygen—just enough for pilots to descend to a safe altitude.

Safe Descent

During this time, pilots bring the plane down to around 10,000 feet, where you can breathe normally.

Passenger Safety

Always put your mask on first before helping others, it ensures you stay conscious.

Rare But Safe

Pressure loss is very rare, but masks make sure you’re safe until the plane stabilizes.
